Susan Kone To Jerrold Nadler - Stop Ducking the Debate -
Replace Your Insensitivity with Insights
Replace Your Insensitivity with Insights
Susan Kone, Republican candidate for Congress in New York’s Eighth Congressional District, today chastised her opponent, Jerrold Nadler, for ignoring a debate invitation issued by The Lincoln Square Synagogue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and reiterated her invitation to debate him at this or any other forum.
Kone stated “Unfortunately, my opponent, 29 year career politician Jerrold Nadler, represents the height of Washington arrogance. Somewhere along the line he has become much more concerned with his special political interests and lost concern for our community’s interest. He has put politics over people and power seeking over problem solving. He is completely out of touch with so many of his constituents in the district . He refuses to listen to them. He misrepresents their views. He harshly criticizes them when they have a view or sensitivity different from his. “
Ms. Kone noted “Mr. Nadler has been flagrantly insensitive to members of this community - including the families of the victims of September 11 and brave first responders - about their views and sensitivities regarding the proposed mosque near Ground Zero. He has also been insensitive about decreasing incomes, increasing job losses, increasing taxes, increasing health care premiums, crowded schools, closed hospitals and poor treatment of our friends like Israel.”
“I have proposed a series of debates between Mr. Nadler and me so that his insensitivity gets replaced with insights—open discussions. I invite him to join me—not to send one of his surrogates. I believe the people of the 8th Congressional District want Mr. Nadler to agree to debate any and all issues, candidate-to-candidate, in free, fair forums, open to the press and public. “
Kone concluded “Mr Nadler - please stop dodging Lincoln Square Synagogue, stop dodging your constituents and stop dodging me. Let us discuss openly the many significant issues that affect our district and our nation in this critical election year. This is the American way and our community deserves nothing less.”
