Susan Kone Remarks at Pro-Israel Rally

CONCERNED CITIZENS, TRUE FRIENDS OF ISRAEL, FREEDOM-LOVING AMERICANS
SPEECH DELIVERED BY SUSAN KONE AT PRO-ISRAEL RALLY -
APRIL 25, 2010

It was only three generations ago when the world emerged from one of the most egregious atrocities in the history of mankind. We vowed to keep the memory and the lessons of the Holocaust Period alive and to remain vigilant and mindful of the difficult lessons of our past. Specifically -- we vowed never to let evil wreak havoc and destruction again. We learned that when extremists state their intentions to commit mass genocide we must take them at their word; that moral clarity and political courage are necessary to combat evil; that weakness and appeasement only serve to embolden it; and that true peace and genuine security can only be attained through a position of strength. Or at least – I hope we learned.

Once again evil has reared its ugly head. Anti Semitism has been cloaked as anti Zionism. Extremists have pledged to destroy all those who do not espouse their particular brand of extreme Islam They encourage their children to murder themselves and other children in the name of religious loyalty. They prefer mass murder of civilians to military confrontation. They will prevail unless we have the resolve to defeat them.

The most prominent and dangerous exporter of terrorism throughout the globe -- and one of the most flagrant abusers of the human rights of its people - is Iran. The current fundamentalist regime denies its citizens freedom of speech, press and assembly; tortures, sexually abuses and executes its political opposition including children; stones and denigrates women and persecutes minorities. It is a regime that is inciting the insurgency in Iraq, supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan and promoting the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah. It is closely aligning itself with Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez near our southern border and is effectively expanding its influence throughout the globe. The symbolic head - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad— the Hitler wanna-bee of the 21st Century - is a Holocaust-denier who boasts of his desire to annihilate both the State of Israel and the United States. He is very, very close to developing the nuclear capabilities to carry out his nefarious plans.

We cannot allow the world’s most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world’s most dangerous weapons. The safety and security not only of the the State of Israel, but of the United States of America and of all the world’s freedom-loving people will depend on our ability to combat this imminent and ominous threat.

The Obama Administration does not appear to appreciate the gravitas of the situation or to have learned the difficult lessons of our past. Rather than work closely with our friends to defeat our common enemy -- it has pursued a policy in which brutal dictators, human rights abusers, terrorism glorifiers and liberty-deniers are coddled while traditional allies with whom we share core values are mistreated, unduly pressured and undermined This policy of “hug-a-thug” diplomacy is wrong and only serves to emboldens evil;

Indeed, in the words of Republican congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen “ our nation’s security cannot afford a foreign policy which isolates our allies and moves towards appeasing enemies.” In the surreal world of Obamian foreign policy Representative Lehtinen notes that “you fare far better if you a belligerent menace like Iran or Syria than a loyal ally like Israel.” ;

For the President of the United States not to treat the Prime Minister Netanyahu with appropriate decorum and to cast him as a pariah while the brave men and women of Israel stand on the front lines against our common enemy is an embarrassment to our country -- is wrong, and only serves to embolden evil;

For the President of the United States to use the harshest possible diplomatic language against Israel over its the issuance of routine zoning permits in its capital city of Jerusalem while standing silent as the so-called moderate Fatah names a square in its capital city of Ramallah after Dalal Mughrabi who murdered 37 Israelis and Americans in cold blooded terror attack -- is ludicrous, its wrong , and only serves to embolden evil;

For the President of the United States to pressure Israel to make unilateral pre concessions to those who refuse to recognize her right to exist, call openly for her destruction, teach intolerance and hatred in their schools and use their controlled media to incite and glorify terrorism is wrong and only serves to embolden evil;

For the President of the United States to pressure Israel to make unilateral concessions after she already gave up a large part of her very diminutive country in the name of peace only to receive rockets, missiles and suicide bombers in return -- is wrong and only serves to embolden evil;

Suggesting that peace would be achieved and all would be well in the world in if the so-called “Israeli-Palestinian conflict” were resolved plays into the diversionary tactics and propaganda objectives of our greatest foes - is wrong --- is naive -- and only serves to embolden evil.

We need to right these wrongs. The United States must regain its moral clarity. We must properly define our enemy - engage it from a position of strength -- and defeat it before it destroys us. Liberty must triumph over tyranny; civility must triumph over barbarism and good must triumph over evil.
